Finals for submission

Originally I wanted to do a full deck of cards, realised that was a ridiculous amount in the time set, chopped it to 10, realised that was still too much and wouldn't allow a full investment into each one. I then opted for Four, which would allow me to consider and test each card and then after the submission I would either develop them further or keep making more until I was old and withered. Once I had made the three above I was set to start working on The Sun, the final card. However once I had printed them out and laid them flat, I decided that the compositions of each, two with elements towards the bottom and one at the top, lended itself really well to working as a Triptych.

With these pieces I tried a method that I haven't really explored in depth before. I normally draw everything out by hand on the same piece, creating a composition from reference and following that. In this case, I subverted it by drawing everything seperately and composing it digitally afterwards. I think that this allows for a lot of mistakes and reworking to be done, whilst still retaining the analogue qualities of my work that I really want to cling to.

Over the next three weeks:
The plan after submission is to develop these pieces further, I'm unsure whether to rework them. I really would like to complete a few more and screen print them double sided to add the context of being a physical card. I think I will use the repeated eye pattern in the background of each as the back of each card, and look at how to cut the corners. I could also look into making a box for them to fit in.
